Based on the recommendation of the Regional Veterinary Administration, we have already closed the Children's Zoo and access to the enclosures the first days after the complications in neighbouring Slovakia. Feeding of the residents of the Children's Zoo is also temporarily not possible. We had to close he viewing platform of the Giraffe House and the Mountain Bongo viewing area is closed due to increasing risk.
Please keep your distance around the fencing and under no circumstances feed the animals anywhere on the premises.
The serious disease foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) is particularly threatening to artiodactyls and elephants. It is spread very easily by direct contact with a sick animal or its products. It is also transmitted by airborne droplets, contaminated surfaces (clothes, shoes, car), etc. Humans are not susceptible to the disease, but can act as carriers of the virus.
The situation is currently quite calm and all measures are only precautionary. We believe that everything will be managed thanks to your help and consideration.
Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to seeing you!
