Okapi is most closely related to giraffes. Safari Park Dvůr Králové is the only institution breeding this unique species in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Currently there is a couple - male Ewango and female called Qira. You can visit them even in the winter, when the weather conditions do not allow them move outside thanks to their indoor exhibit. Okapi usually lives solitarily in the wild that is why they are separated from each other also in the captivity for the most of the year. It's only possible to see them together during Qira's rutting period.
